Hola,

I’d love to be your child’s Spanish teacher!

In Texas, I grew up listening to my Mexican grandmother speak in Spanglish and I went on many family trips to Mexico. In my hometown of Houston, I was exposed to Spanish-speaking cultures. As a child, I knew I would become bilingual. Now I understand what a gift it was to start my language-learning journey when I was young.

In college, I spent a year abroad in Mexico, taking classes for two semesters at the University of Guanajuato to complete my degree. After that, I taught non-credit Spanish courses at Southern Oregon University. I then returned to Texas to start my teaching career as a Spanish teacher and grant program coordinator. For years, I had extensive training in teaching Spanish to children, and even presented workshops at foreign language conferences. I have traveled to Peru, Ecuador, Puerto Rico, and lived in Spain to take courses in teaching Spanish as a second language.

Since that time, I have lived in Tahoe and taught Spanish immersion to preschool and kindergarten students, after school classes to children, and adult Spanish classes for all levels in Truckee. I also had the privilege of teaching Spanish to the lower grades at Sage Ridge School in Reno.

As a child, I loved my interactive Spanish classes the most. Now, I create engaging lessons that incorporate movement, fun, connection, games, and immersion so my students can learn naturally. I am excited to bring Spanish classes to Tahoe’s young Spanish learners.
